Who can fly?
Most people can fly in the vertical wind tunnel. You don’t need to be in top physical shape, but your health must be in order. Children from the age of 7 can fly – the important thing is, that they have fairly good body control and are able take and understand instructions. For flyers under the age of 18, we ask for parental consent in the form of our waiver of liability signed by a parent or a legal guardian. You can find the waiver here.
You cannot fly if you are pregnant, suffer from serious back, shoulder or heart issues, suffer from epilepsy or are under the influence of alcohol or narcotic substances. Read our alcohol policy here.
You are not to fly if you weigh more than 120 kg. Please contact Copenhagen Air Experience before booking, if you have any doubts.
The instructor will always decide whether you can fly or not. Safety always comes first.
Is learning to fly difficult?
You will be thoroughly briefed before flying. Our instructors and operators will customize the level and wind speed to suit you, your size, weight and flying experience.
You will experience better manoeuvrability and better control of your movements the more you fly. Relax, enjoy your flights and always follow your instructors advice and instructions.
How long does it take to learn to fly?
Most people learn to fly on their own within the first two minutes. After your first visit, you are likely to have a good sense of what flying is all about. If you want better control and explore what you can do in the tunnel, we will be happy to coach you. Once you gain better control of your movements, and can keep a stabile position in the wind stream, our instructors can approve you as a pro flyer. Then you can practice Bodyflight as a sport, and you can buy pro time with us. Read more here.
How much time should I set aside when visiting Copenhagen Air Experience?
We have briefings starting every hour. In preparation to your flight you will spend approximately 30 minutes on registration, trying on your helmet, instruction, changing clothes and warming up. If the hour is fully booked, you should expect to spend at least 1,5 hrs from start to finish. Larger groups takes a little longer.
Is bodyflight the same as skydiving?
Bodyflight physically feels the same as the free fall you experience while skydiving, although the mental experience is a little different, as you do not have to actually jump out of an airplane in mid air. Bodyflight is also more accessible and much cheaper than skydiving.
From what age can you fly?
Our age limit is 7 years. There is no upper limit. The oldest person to fly at CAE was 90 years old when he flew. Most important is that you are of reasonably good health and capable of pushing off the walls with hands and feet.
Can disabled people fly?
Bodyflight requires that you can control your body and movements, and that your general health is good. Please contact us if you have a disability and wish to fly.
How does the wind tunnel work?
Electric engines drive five propellers, which creates a powerful stream of air with speeds of up to 220 kph. The wind stream is so powerful that it can lift a person i the air.
How many can fly in the flight chamber at the same time?
As a beginner you will fly alone, assisted by an instructor. Experienced flyers can fit up to 4 people at a time. It is at all times the instructor who decides who and how many can fly. We never take chances with your safety.
Who can fly in open air?
You need to be able to be in control when flying, before we allow you to fly in open air on the second floor. The instructor will ultimately decide where you can fly. The weather can also play a part.
Is it possible to fly over the edge of the building and fall down when flying in open air?
No. The tunnel is TÜV certified, so that is impossible. The building is naturally designed in a way that prevents such accidents from happening. You might fall out of the wind stream, but only to land softly in the thick safety cushions surrounding it.
Can I buy extra flying time if I get hooked?
If the time you booked doesn’t cover the flying time you actually wish to have, it is often possible to extend your booking upon arrival to Copenhagen Air Experience. We strive to allow time for extra flights at the end of each group, to the extent that the existing bookings allow.
Can we book the tunnel just for ourselves?
Each guest will fly accompanied by an instructor one at the time. We may, for your convenience, split large groups, so that each rotation lasts no longer than approximately 30 minutes. Small groups or individuals will always fly in the same rotation, although you might be joining others on busy days. If you wish to book the tunnel exclusively, you need to book 44 minutes of flight time or more. Please contact us for further information.
What should I wear and bring when coming to fly?
Your clothing doesn’t necessarily need to be a sporting outfit, but should be comfortable enough to allow you to move freely while flying. Your shoes should be flat and preferably with laces, so they can fit tightly around your feet. Winter flying can be cold, so bring a warm sweater and some thermal underwear. During summer, it might be a good idea to bring an extra T-shirt to change after flying. The rest of your equipment (helmet, gloves, earplugs, flight suit) is provided by Copenhagen Air Experience.
Can I fly in bad weather?
The design of the tunnel allows you to fly in the flight chamber in any kind of weather.
